r"""
This is the configuration class to store the configuration of a [`LlamaModel`]. It is used to instantiate an LLaMA
model according to the specified arguments, defining the model architecture. Instantiating a configuration with the
defaults will yield a similar configuration to that of the LLaMA-7B.
Configuration objects inherit from [`PretrainedConfig`] and can be used to control the model outputs. Read the
documentation from [`PretrainedConfig`] for more information.
Args:
vocab_size (`int`, *optional*, defaults to 32000):
Vocabulary size of the LLaMA model. Defines the number of different tokens that can be represented by the
`inputs_ids` passed when calling [`LlamaModel`]
hidden_size (`int`, *optional*, defaults to 4096):
Dimension of the hidden representations.
intermediate_size (`int`, *optional*, defaults to 11008):
Dimension of the MLP representations.
num_hidden_layers (`int`, *optional*, defaults to 32):
Number of hidden layers in the Transformer decoder.
num_attention_heads (`int`, *optional*, defaults to 32):
Number of attention heads for each attention layer in the Transformer decoder.
num_key_value_heads (`int`, *optional*):
This is the number of key_value heads that should be used to implement Grouped Query Attention. If
`num_key_value_heads=num_attention_heads`, the model will use Multi Head Attention (MHA), if
`num_key_value_heads=1 the model will use Multi Query Attention (MQA) otherwise GQA is used. When
converting a multi-head checkpoint to a GQA checkpoint, each group key and value head should be constructed
by meanpooling all the original heads within that group. For more details checkout [this
paper](https://arxiv.org/pdf/2305.13245.pdf). If it is not specified, will default to
`num_attention_heads`.
hidden_act (`str` or `function`, *optional*, defaults to `"silu"`):
The non-linear activation function (function or string) in the decoder.
max_position_embeddings (`int`, *optional*, defaults to 2048):
The maximum sequence length that this model might ever be used with. Llama 1 supports up to 2048 tokens,
Llama 2 up to 4096, CodeLlama up to 16384.
initializer_range (`float`, *optional*, defaults to 0.02):
The standard deviation of the truncated_normal_initializer for initializing all weight matrices.
rms_norm_eps (`float`, *optional*, defaults to 1e-06):
The epsilon used by the rms normalization layers.
use_cache (`bool`, *optional*, defaults to `True`):
Whether or not the model should return the last key/values attentions (not used by all models). Only
relevant if `config.is_decoder=True`.
pad_token_id (`int`, *optional*):
Padding token id.
bos_token_id (`int`, *optional*, defaults to 1):
Beginning of stream token id.
eos_token_id (`int`, *optional*, defaults to 2):
End of stream token id.
pretraining_tp (`int`, *optional*, defaults to 1):
Experimental feature. Tensor parallelism rank used during pretraining. Please refer to [this
document](https://huggingface.co/docs/transformers/parallelism) to understand more about it. This value is
necessary to ensure exact reproducibility of the pretraining results. Please refer to [this
issue](https://github.com/pytorch/pytorch/issues/76232).
tie_word_embeddings (`bool`, *optional*, defaults to `False`):
Whether to tie weight embeddings
rope_theta (`float`, *optional*, defaults to 10000.0):
The base period of the RoPE embeddings.
rope_scaling (`Dict`, *optional*):
Dictionary containing the scaling configuration for the RoPE embeddings. Currently supports two scaling
strategies: linear and dynamic. Their scaling factor must be a float greater than 1. The expected format is
`{"type": strategy name, "factor": scaling factor}`. When using this flag, don't update
`max_position_embeddings` to the expected new maximum. See the following thread for more information on how
these scaling strategies behave:
https://www.reddit.com/r/LocalLLaMA/comments/14mrgpr/dynamically_scaled_rope_further_increases/. This is an
experimental feature, subject to breaking API changes in future versions.
attention_bias (`bool`, defaults to `False`, *optional*, defaults to `False`):
Whether to use a bias in the query, key, value and output projection layers during self-attention.
attention_dropout (`float`, *optional*, defaults to 0.0):
The dropout ratio for the attention probabilities.

```python
Convert ZeRO 2 or 3 checkpoint into a single fp32 consolidated state_dict that can be loaded with
``load_state_dict()`` and used for training without DeepSpeed or shared with others, for example
via a model hub.
Args:
- ``checkpoint_dir``: path to the desired checkpoint folder
- ``tag``: checkpoint tag used as a unique identifier for checkpoint. If not provided will attempt to load tag in 'latest' file. e.g., ``global_step14``
Returns:
- pytorch ``state_dict``
Note: this approach may not work if your application doesn't have sufficient free CPU memory and
you may need to use the offline approach using the ``zero_to_fp32.py`` script that is saved with
the checkpoint.
A typical usage might be ::
from deepspeed.utils.zero_to_fp32 import get_fp32_state_dict_from_zero_checkpoint
# do the training and checkpoint saving
model.load_state_dict(state_dict)
# submit to model hub or save the model to share with others
In this example the ``model`` will no longer be usable in the deepspeed context of the same
application. i.e. you will need to re-initialize the deepspeed engine, since
``model.load_state_dict(state_dict)`` will remove all the deepspeed magic from it.
If you want it all done for you, use ``load_state_dict_from_zero_checkpoint`` instead.
loaded with ``torch.load(file)`` + ``load_state_dict()`` and used for training without DeepSpeed.
Args:
- ``checkpoint_dir``: path to the desired checkpoint folder. (one that contains the tag-folder, like ``global_step14``)
- ``output_file``: path to the pytorch fp32 state_dict output file (e.g. path/pytorch_model.bin)
- ``tag``: checkpoint tag used as a unique identifier for checkpoint. If not provided will attempt to load tag in the file named ``latest`` in the checkpoint folder, e.g., ``global_step14``
2. Convert ZeRO 2 or 3 checkpoint into a single fp32 consolidated ``state_dict``
3. Load it into the provided model
Args:
- ``model``: the model object to update
- ``checkpoint_dir``: path to the desired checkpoint folder. (one that contains the tag-folder, like ``global_step14``)
- ``tag``: checkpoint tag used as a unique identifier for checkpoint. If not provided will attempt to load tag in the file named ``latest`` in the checkpoint folder, e.g., ``global_step14``
Returns:
- ``model`: modified model
Make sure you have plenty of CPU memory available before you call this function. If you don't
have enough use the ``zero_to_fp32.py`` utility to do the conversion. You will find it
conveniently placed for you in the checkpoint folder.
A typical usage might be ::
from deepspeed.utils.zero_to_fp32 import load_state_dict_from_zero_checkpoint
model = load_state_dict_from_zero_checkpoint(trainer.model, checkpoint_dir)
# submit to model hub or save the model to share with others
Note, that once this was run, the ``model`` will no longer be usable in the deepspeed context
of the same application. i.e. you will need to re-initialize the deepspeed engine, since
``model.load_state_dict(state_dict)`` will remove all the deepspeed magic from it.
