Multimodal models like Qwen3.5 MoE does embedding in model_runner, so
when flash comm is enabled, the first AllGather operation should be
skipped.

9e2965bae2 [Feature] Support Flash Comm V1 for VL models (with MLA) (#7390)
## Summary

Flash Comm V1 (flashcomm1) was previously blocked for all VL models.

**Root cause:** For VL models, `inputs_embeds` at layer 0 originates
from the vision encoder as a full `[N, H]` tensor — it has **not** been
reduce-scattered across TP ranks. The original MLA forward path assumed
inputs were already scattered, producing wrong output shapes under TP >
1.

**Fix:**
- Detect at init time (statically, not via runtime shape checks) whether
a layer is the first layer of a VL model (`is_vl_first_layer`) so dynamo
treats the branch as a constant.
- In `AscendMultiHeadLatentAttention.forward`, when `flashcomm1 + TP > 1
+ is_vl_first_layer`, set `need_gather_q_kv=False` and pre-allocate
output as `[N//tp_size, H]`.
- Remove the platform-level assertion that prevented VL models from
enabling Flash Comm V1.

**Other improvements:**
- `is_vl_model()` now uses vllm's canonical detection (`hf_config is not
hf_text_config`) instead of fragile key-name checks, with the old checks
kept as fallback.
- Added `parse_layer_idx(prefix)` utility.
- Added `maybe_chunk_residual` call in `AscendRMSNorm` before the
add-rms-norm op.
- Removed unnecessary CPU/fp32 round-trip in
  `AscendLearnable2DInterpPosEmbDivided_fixed.forward()`.

7669963c27 [Perf] Optimize bias handling in AscendRMSNorm (#7226)
### What this PR does / why we need it?
This PR optimizes bias handling in `AscendRMSNorm` without changing the
intended
functional behavior.

In the current implementation, bias may be initialized for
`AscendRMSNorm` based
on configuration-level detection, even though some norm layers never
actually
load a bias weight. This can cause the inference path to enter the bias
branch
and execute an unnecessary `add_` operator.

To improve this, this PR introduces a loader-based flag to record
whether the
bias has actually been loaded. The bias addition is then executed only
when the
bias is truly present.

This optimization reduces redundant computation in inference and makes
the bias
application logic better aligned with the actual model weights.

3047b724b3 Add GemmaRmsNorm ACLGraph Support (#6473)
### What this PR does / why we need it?
1. New Custom NPU Operation: Introduced npu_gemma_rms_norm in
csrc/torch_binding.cpp to provide optimized Gemma RMS Normalization
support for Ascend NPUs. This function includes logic to handle dynamic
shapes for the gamma tensor.
2. PyTorch Operator Registration: The new npu_gemma_rms_norm operation
has been registered with the PyTorch custom operator library, making it
accessible from Python.
Meta-Implementation for ACLGraph: A corresponding meta-implementation,
npu_gemma_rms_norm_meta, was added in csrc/torch_binding_meta.cpp. This
is crucial for symbolic tracing and allowing the custom kernel to be
captured and optimized by ACLGraph.
3. Python Frontend Integration: The vllm_ascend/ops/layernorm.py file
was updated to utilize the newly added
torch.ops._C_ascend.npu_gemma_rms_norm for Gemma RMS Normalization,
replacing the generic torch_npu.npu_rms_norm

acc3578f58 [Graph][Fusion]Add new pattern for AddRmsnormQuant with SP. (#5077)
### What this PR does / why we need it?
1. In addition to
[#4168](https://github.com/vllm-project/vllm-ascend/pull/4168),
[#5011](https://github.com/vllm-project/vllm-ascend/pull/5011), this PR
adds two more pattern for AddRmsnormQuant with SP enabled. The key
difference is to insert an additional `maybe_all_gather_and_maybe_unpad`
between `addrmsnorm` and `quantize`.
2. This PR also introduce another api `torch.ops.vllm.quantize`, so that
we pass `input_scale` and `input_scale_reciprocal` at the same time.
This is because `npu_add_rms_norm_quant` and `npu_quantize` requires
different `div_mode`. To avoid introducing additional reciprocal
calculation in runtime, we have to pass both of them to quantize api.
3. Removes redundant `AscendQuantRmsnorm`.

178ca1607e Adopt inductor fusion and define quantization fusion pass (#4168)
### What this PR does / why we need it?
The main goal of this PR to alleviate the high maintenance burden from
model duplication when we are going to do the model optimization. Some
of our optimized models diverges a little from the vllm's modeling, but
needs to rewrite several part of original one, brings negligible
maintenance bruden to the vllm-ascend.In order to solve that, we propose
to leverage `torch.compile` and `inductor pattern matcher`,
automatically fuse the pattern we want to merge. For more details can
refer to the RFC https://github.com/vllm-project/vllm-ascend/issues/4239

This pr integrates `AddRMSNorm` and the `Quant` operator, which can
improve the inference speed of models using `w8a8 `quantization.

143e1f46d0 [Feat] shared expert dp for deepseek_mtp (#3811)
### What this PR does / why we need it?
Support shared expert DP for deepseek_mtp feature.
`shared_expert_dp` requires `SP==True`, with corresponding parameter
restrictions.
Previously, due to the coupling between `shared_expert_dp` and torchair,
and the removal of `deepseek_mtp` in vllm_ascend, shared expert dp of
deepseek_mtp was temporarily removed.
Currently, by performing the `reduce_scatter` on the input of
deepssek_mtp in `mtp_proposer.py`, we ensure that it matches the
dimensions of `input_embedding`, and then perform the `all_gather` on
the output of mtp.

136ea9ff56 [refact] unified soc_version code (#4359)
### What this PR does / why we need it?

Currently, there are two paths to judge the chip type in code,
`get_ascend_soc_version` use `get_soc_version` api in torch_npu, and
`is_310p` `use _build_info.__soc_version__`, which generate when
install. We need to unify the two paths.

We need to unify these codes based on the following points:

1. We need to ensure consistency in chip type judgment between compiling
and running states;
2. In compiling state, we need chip type to complete op's compilation,
but in running state, we only need device
type(910B/910_93/310P/910_95/etc) to make code branch judgement;
3. In compiling state, torch_npu may not have been installed yet, so we
can't use torch_npu's api.

Based on the above points, we have made the following changes:

1. When user set env `SOC_VERSION`, use it; when not set, query
soc_version by `npu-smi`;
2. generate device_type based on soc_version when compiling, and write
`__device_type__` instead of `__soc_version__` in `_build_info.py`;
3. In running state, use `__device_type__` to judge code branch.

### Does this PR introduce _any_ user-facing change?

When not set env `SOC_VERSION`, it will not be `ASCEND910B1` by default,
we will query soc_version by `npu-smi`. And env `SOC_VERSION` must be in
the list `soc_to_device` in `setup.py`.

3a53bbc508 [Feat]Qwen3 Moe supports npu_add_rms_norm_quant op by default, update op with bias, resolve conflict with weight prefetch (#3465)
### What this PR does / why we need it?
1.qwen3 moe uses add_rms_norm_quant op instead of 'add_rms_norm op and
quant op' during quantization scene.
2.torch_npu.add_rms_norm_quant op fixed accuracy while model weights is
quantized by anti_method m4, m4 quantization is asymmetric outlier
suppression method, it will generate none-zero norm bias,
add_rms_norm_quant op updated to add this parameter to calculate.
3. add torch-npu check

### Does this PR introduce _any_ user-facing change?
new feature works if torch_npu version >= torch_npu-2.7.1.dev20250919

### How was this patch tested?
1.no special parameters to set, no new envs to set. new feature works if

6972df5951 [Feature] optimize sp & qwen3 next support sp. (#3225)
This PR will accomplish the following tasks:
**optimize SP**
In the old version implementation, the first layer was all_reduce, which
used rms to split chunks. We changed it to perform reduce_scatter on the
embedding side, replace one all_reduce operation and one chunk with one
reduce_scatter operation.
**Support qwen3 next**
Since Qwen3 Next includes a linear attention module, the prefix name of
this module cannot take effect directly.

d5e7756028 [Core] Init vllm-ascend (#3)
### What this PR does / why we need it?
vLLM Ascend plugin (vllm-ascend) is a backend plugin for running vLLM on
the Ascend NPU.

This plugin is the recommended approach for supporting the Ascend
backend within the vLLM community. It adheres to the principles outlined
in the [RFC]: Hardware pluggable, providing a hardware-pluggable
interface that decouples the integration of the Ascend NPU with vLLM.

This patch also include changes to make CI work and use cache speed up
e2e test, including:
1. Change push (post merge ci) and pull_request (pr ci) trigger branch
to main
   2. Make mypy work by ignore base_communicator and clear unused deps
   3. Several improvements for vllm_ascend_test:
     - use cache (pip, ms, hf) speed up e2e test (25mins --> 5mins)
- switch `git clone` command to `action/checkout` to speedup checkout
and
     - Enable sv for pytest for better info dump
- Remove network host to resole `docker: conflicting ontions: cannot
attach both user-defined and non-user-definednetwork-modes`, which is a
problem on docker 1.45 but not on 1.39.
4. Adapt MLA decode optimizations:
cabaf4eff3

### Does this PR introduce _any_ user-facing change?
Yes, init the PR.

### How was this patch tested?
- This is the first PR to make ascend NPU work on vLLM. All code is
tested on ascend with vLLM V0 Engine.
- CI passed
